New General Manager for GO

Thursday 21 November 2024

GO has appointed a new General Manager, with Mike Bougourd securing the role, replacing Chris Murphy, who is returning to the private sector.

GO is a skills retraining and recycling charity based at Southside on the Bridge, and Mr Bougourd knows the organisation inside and out, having been the Deputy General Manager for several years previously.

Mr Brouard says that continuing the work of his predecessor is an exciting opportunity.

“I’m delighted to take the opportunity to develop the fine work at GO that Chris has carried out over the last several years.

“I’m totally committed to GO’s ethos of giving our team members the skills that will enable them to rejoin the world of work. Our new, long-term premises at Southside gives us the solid base to help meet the needs of our trainees and the wider Guernsey community. I’m very excited about developing the products sold in our busy shop and meeting the needs of both our customers and the team here at GO.”

Paul Meader, Chairman of GO's board of directors, expressed his pleasure at Bougourd's appointment and thanked Chris Murphy for his service. “I’m extremely pleased that we can use Mike’s vast experience of GO and its training and retail environment to further develop the vital work that GO does within the Guernsey community.

“My fellow directors and I will be doing all we can to help Mike increase the number of people we can help find jobs on the island. Our thanks go to Chris Murphy for his sterling service and we wish him well in his new post.”
