New doctors' surgery opens in Town

Thursday 18 November 2021

IslandHealth - which already has doctors' surgeries at L'Aumone and Grandes Maisons Road - has opened a new surgery at the bottom of Le Truchot in Town.

The surgery is next to the taxi rank and close to parking at the North Beach. It is larger than a surgery elsewhere in Town occupied by IslandHealth for the past 16 years. The practice can now offer a broader range of services to patients. The new location is on the ground floor, which assists access for patients.

Dr Julia Rebstein, Practice Chair of IslandHealth, said: "This is a really positive move for the Practice, but most of all for our patients. Our new Town Surgery will be open from 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs Monday to Friday and will offer GP, nursing, physiotherapy, osteopathy, podiatry and psychotherapy appointments. We’re also able to offer some of our other clinical services – such as ultrasound, cardiology and dermatology for example – from this central Town location.

"We’re pleased to be contributing to the vibrancy of St Peter Port and our expectation is that those who work in Town offices and shops will find the location and our opening hours really helpful. Every Thursday we’ll be open through until 19:00hrs, which again is helpful as people have such busy working lives."

The site will be the main base for IslandHealth's travel clinic for those needing vaccinations before they travel off the island. It will also be used by Bailiwick Social Prescribing, which the Practice has supported from its inception.

The opening of the Town Surgery is another indication of a period of growth for IslandHealth. It is increasing its number of doctors. And construction is well under way in a significant development of its L'Aumone surgery.
