New charity partnership for Canaccord

Monday 22 April 2024

The Canaccord Genuity Wealth Charitable Trust (The Charitable Trust) has announced a two-year partnership providing financial and volunteer support to the Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service.

Jenny Murphy of the Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service, said the charity is deeply grateful for Canaccord’s commitment.

“The Bailiwick of Guernsey Victim Support and Witness Service offers a lifeline to those whose lives may have been changed by a crime.

"In 2022, 292 victims and 224 witnesses were supported. Canaccord’s support will enable us to continue to empower victims and witnesses on their journey towards justice and healing,” she said.

The Charitable Trust Board is made up of current and former staff. Chair of the Canaccord Genuity Charitable Trust, Eilish Brenock, said they’ve pledged to engage even more closely with local organisations and charities as part of their milestone 20th anniversary year.

“We have chosen an exceptional charity in each of the islands in which we operate, nominated by Canaccord staff who felt strongly that each deserves wider recognition for the work they do - and we’ll be providing both financial and practical support to them.”

Head of Wealth Management in Guernsey, Chris Colclough agreed.

“Going the extra mile in such an important year for us is a great way to celebrate the Charitable Trust’s 20th Anniversary," he said.

"We hope our partnership will allow the charity to continue making a difference to those in most need of support. I am encouraging all our staff to get behind the celebrations – either through fundraising, volunteering, or buying treats from the inevitable bake sales!”

The Charitable Trust launched in 2004, and since then it has provided more than £460,000 to charities across Guernsey, the Isle of Man, and Jersey.

Staff at Canaccord were invited to nominate registered charities which were close to their hearts to benefit from fundraising and volunteering over the next two years.
