Menopause awareness livestreams planned

Tuesday 07 November 2023

Healthcare Group says it is going to host three livestreams to try and raise more awareness around the Menopause with "valuable insights and guidance for members of the public".

The sessions are all being held via Facebook this month in the immediate aftermath of 'Menopause Awareness Month' to try and ensure vital messages are making their way through to people.

Dr Lucy Joslin (pictured top), Women’s Health Doctor at Healthcare Group, said the livestreams will "allow women to anonymously ask questions about menopause, signs and symptoms and sharing struggles they would like answers to".

"One month of the year isn’t enough time to share crucial information to women about the menopause," she said.

"It’s a natural stage of life, and many women have very individual journeys. We want to continue raising awareness and answering questions that some may feel they either can’t or don’t want to ask for whatever reason.

"Joining us are some incredible ladies who share the same passion in wanting to support our community with knowledge, advice and just being there for one another."

Each of the three sessions will feature guest specialists from Guernsey Mind, Isle Health, Chloe Adam Nutrition, Pelvic Physio Guernsey and the Princess Elizabeth Hospital Breast Unit.

The livestreams will be on 16, 21 and 28 November between 19:00 and 20:00 through the Healthcare Group’s Facebook page, with questions encouraged.

"Talking about the menopause used to be an uncomfortable topic to speak about and we’re changing that. Everyone should be educated about the subject and we hope these live sessions help a lot of people," added Dr Joslin.
