Meet Herm's new management team

Herm is under new management with immediate effect, with a team of six heading up the operation and running of the island, overseen by the island’s leaseholder, John Singer, stepping in as acting CEO.

Tom Jones, Head of Hospitality, and the longest serving resident and employee of the island, has had his role extended to now oversee the hotel, holiday cottages, campsite, tavern, shops and beach cafés.

Another long-term resident, James Hastings, is part of the new management structure. James moved to Herm with his family in 2010 as the Island Builder and was promoted to Technical Services Manager in 2020, heading up the team who manage, maintain, and develop the infrastructure of the entire island estate, including all buildings, gardens, power station, utilities, livestock, boats, and campsites.

Other members of the new Herm Management Board are Michael Fletcher, Head of Finance; Kate Evans, Marketing & PR Manager; Shaun McDonald, Hotel General Manager; and Anne Devenport, Sales & Reservations Manager.

"Herm is lucky to have such a competent group of leaders able and willing to step in and collaborate as a team to manage our precious little island," said leaseholder, John Singer.

"We have had valuable leadership from our former CEO, Craig Senior, over the past six years, and wish him every success in his future endeavours. But we must now look forward and ensure Herm remains sustainable and available to all who cherish its unique beauty, and benefit from everything the island has to offer."

Mr Senior left this island recently as his children had reached secondary school age so the family made a decision to return to the UK.
