Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands distributed more than £1 million in active grants to support charities in the Channel Islands in 2018.

In total 29 charitable organisations benefitted from new grants valued at approximately £925,000 and, together with a further ten ongoing multiple year grants, brought the total grant value in 2018 to more than £1.3m.

Jo Le Poidevin, Executive Director for the Lloyds Bank Foundation for the Channel Islands, said: "We are delighted with the range of charities we have been able to support in 2018 and to have surpassed the £1m. mark in grant funding.

"The charity sector continues to play an invaluable role in tackling disadvantage and providing services to help improve people’s lives and strengthen communities, and the Foundation is proud to support the sector in its work. In its 33-year history, the Foundation has awarded £17m. to organisations across the Channel Islands."

In 2018 the highest grants awarded went to Guernsey Community Savings (£100,000), toward their salary costs, and Guernsey Mind in Alderney (£50,458) towards the cost of mental health and well-being in the Island. At the other end of the scale, the Foundation provided £5,000 to the Parkinson’s Disease Society in Jersey to fund advertising during their 30th anniversary year and £4,025 to Access for All in Guernsey, helping in their goal of having a more accessible town.

The Foundation’s objective is to support and work in partnership with charitable organisations which help people, especially disadvantaged or disabled, to play a fuller role in communities throughout the Channel Islands. 2019 grant funding will be agreed by the trustees of the Foundation when they meet in March, July and November. The next closing date for grant applications is Friday 8 February, 17:00.
