Mourant has become the first law firm to enrol in a locally-founded awards scheme to promote sustainable business operations.
ESI Monitor, who began in Guernsey and recently opened a London Office, offers products and services that support business’ transition to sustainable practices and encourage them to commit to them.
Mourant, which has offices in the Channel Islands, Cayman Islands, BVI, Hong Kong and London, has joined the Environmental Business Operations Award Scheme to improve the communities in which its employees live and work.
“As an environmentally conscious firm it made perfect sense for Mourant to sign up to the ESI Monitor,” said Mourant ‘Green Team’ member John Rochester. “We already have a ‘green ethos’ across our jurisdictions, which include some of the most beautiful places in the world,”
“We look forward to working our way through the accreditation process so that we can proudly confirm Mourant’s environmental credentials.”
The award scheme is a five-step process of accreditation, in which businesses must demonstrating an understanding of, and commitment to reducing, their impact on the environment.
ESI Managing Director Marc Laine said that Mourant is “setting a great example to the legal profession:”
“Working to our standard will minimise Mourant’s operational impact on the environment, while also demonstrating its credentials to provide services in the emerging green finance market.”
