The Guernsey wing of the Institute of Directors is welcoming an expert this month to carry out first-of-its-kind research into the island’s workforce.
Tristan Claridge from the Institute of Social Capital will lead the project, with the findings a cornerstone of the IoD convention later this year – delving into how social capital can benefit the economy and foster social wellbeing.
Social capital is about the networks of individuals and how relationships can ensure common goals are achieved, and Mr Claridge will be using a series of interviews, group discussion and informal observations to measure it in Guernsey.
Chair Glen Tonks said he would be able to connect with all sectors from business, charities, the sports arts and government while he’s in the island.
“Mr Claridge is a global leader in social capital, known for his innovative research and practical applications of social capital concepts across various sectors. His visit to Guernsey marks a significant event for the island, as it becomes the focal point of this groundbreaking research project.
“This study is unique, and we hope it will show us how we can harness this type of capital for the greater good and long-term sustainable growth of the island.”
His findings will be presented at the Convention on 3 October, with tickets still available.
