Carey Olsen has promoted restructuring and insolvency lawyer David Jones to Partner, with effect from 1 January 2019
Mr Jones joined the firm as an Associate in 2010 and was promoted to Senior Associate and then counsel in 2012 and 2016 respectively. In his new role, he will lead the Guernsey restructuring and insolvency team.
Mr Jones has played an integral role in developing the firm's restructuring and insolvency practice and has worked on many complex cases in the island in recent years.
These have included advising on the administrations of the philatelic investment business Stanley Gibbons (Guernsey) Limited, the Long Port Group and HMV Group.
Russell Clark, Managing Partner of Carey Olsen's Guernsey office, said: "David has made a significant contribution to the development of our restructuring and insolvency practice in recent years and it is a pleasure to welcome him to the partnership. As a true, dedicated restructuring and insolvency lawyer in Guernsey, David has established an enviable practice and earned the trust and respect of clients and colleagues alike. He is a tremendous asset to the firm and very deserving of this promotion."
A member of R3, the Insolvency Lawyers Association and INSOL International, Mr Jones is a regular speaker at events for professional organisations and clients. He sits on the young members committee of INSOL International and is a working group member for its Taskforce 2021 strategic review. He has also been invited to write and lecture for INSOL International's new Foundation Certificate in International Insolvency Law, and is a member of the industry working group tasked with revising Guernsey's own insolvency law.
