HSBC appoints new Head of Private Banking

Friday 03 September 2021

HSBC has appointed Kevin Herbert as Head of Private Banking in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

In his new role, based in Guernsey, Mr Herbert will continue to grow the private banking business in the islands and help support an enhanced wealth management and legacy planning offering for clients.

Working at HSBC since 1987, Mr Herbert has held a number of key role roles internationally, including most recently Co-Head of Private Banking in North Asia, based in Hong Kong, where he gained particular expertise in supporting the needs of Asian families.

He has also held positions across the Bank’s Commercial, Wealth and Personal Banking, and Expat businesses – including a number of years in Guernsey and Jersey.

He takes over the role from Ed Bloor, who has led the Private Banking business in the islands for more than four years and is returning to the UK with the Bank.

Cameron Senior, Interim Head of Wealth and Personal Banking, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Kevin back to the Channel Islands as we continue to focus on growing our wealth management services to both local and international customers in a joined-up, sustainable way.

“Kevin’s experience internationally combined with his understanding of the local market make him ideally placed to further leverage the opportunities available to our private banking business.”

Mr Herbert added: “Our focus is very much on working closely and collaborating with our Expat and wider businesses in the islands and beyond to continue to enhance our private banking client experience and ultimately grow the business in a sustainable manner. We have a fantastic team in place in the islands and I’m excited by our potential.”
