HSBC appoints new General Counsel in Channel Islands

HSBC has appointed Kate Morton as General Counsel in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

In her new role, Ms Morton will oversee the legal frameworks and manage the legal risks across the Bank’s operations in Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man.

Having been with HSBC for more than 20 years, Ms Morton has experience of working across multiple locations including various regions of the UK and Asia, supporting a broad range of divisions, including commercial banking, cash management and, for the last 14 years, wealth and personal banking. 

Most recently, she was based in Hong Kong, where she was responsible for managing the legal risk surrounding the distribution of products to retail customers in ten countries across the Asia Pacific region. Whilst there, she also ran a project to significantly simplify customer facing legal terms. 

“Having worked across the UK and Asia over the past 22 years, I’m excited to be moving to a new environment,” she said.
