As recipients of flights from Blue Islands’ #mybi Flight Fund which launched in January, thirteen young people from Guernsey recently flew on Blue Islands’ service to Liverpool for the Youth Commission’s ‘Get Away’ project.
Charlie Cox, CEO of the Youth Commission, said they were delighted to have the continued support of Blue Islands through the #mybi Flight Fund.
"The kind generosity means that we can support young people from Guernsey to get off island and experience culture and education in the UK as part of the ‘Get Away’ project. Blue Islands’ support means we are able to focus our own resources to ensure young people can take part in a range of new experiences on their visit that they may have not had otherwise.”
With an action-packed schedule of activities during the four-night trip, the group experienced some of Liverpool’s culture and famous attractions including a Liverpool FC stadium tour, river cruise along the Mersey, trip to see War Horse at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre, museum experience at Tate Liverpool and the Star Wars Exhibition at Spaceport.
Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said, “Blue Islands established the #mybi Flight Fund for the very purpose of creating positive experiences and is proud to partner with hard-working Channel Islands charities such as the Youth Commission which make such a difference to the lives of children and young people.”
Launched in January this year, the #mybi Flight Fund provides Channel Island residents, groups and charities with free flights to help achieve their off-Island ambitions, whether pursuing achievements in sport, music, art or personal development.
