Guernsey Post deliver another win!

Tuesday 06 August 2019

There was just a second in it, but Guernsey Post claimed another win in the Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Inter-Firm Relay.

The annual event was staged last week, with more than 230 runners competing in 59 four-person teams, each completing a mile long lap of central St Peter Port.

A number of local businesses were represented by their staff among those teams, including New Street Management who came a very close second overall with their mixed team closing in on the Posties’ anchor man Jim De Garis at the final charge up Smith Street.

For the ladies, the Canaccord Genuity team came a close second to the Collas Crill team.

Fastest run of the day came from James Priest of ARC Equity Risk with a brisk 4 minutes 42 second leg, whilst Nat Whitty of the Potting Shed team was fastest woman with 5 minutes 43 seconds – three seconds clear of Jersey’s Island Games triathlete Jo Gorrod, who was in Guernsey for the day to represent Oak Jersey as the local event went pan-island.

The event is organised by Guernsey Athletics and made possible by the support of Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management whose Head of Wealth Management in Guernsey, Chris Colclough said, “We congratulate not just the winners but everyone who took part. As part of our #cando initiative, we continue to recognise the benefits of an active lifestyle, both on mental wellbeing and performance in the workplace. And, we appreciate being able to encourage the community to do the same with this event. Even though our trainers are still cooling down, we’re already thinking about preparing for next year.”
