Guernsey gin wins Silver status

Thursday 26 July 2018

Unit Six gin has won Silver status in the 2018 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

The firm said it is "a significant achievement for Unit Six as entries are received from as many as 90 countries worldwide with each entrant having to follow a very rigorous judging process."

Each sample is blind tested then subject to a technical testing in a laboratory for detailed chemical analysis. The IWSC’s purpose is to award excellence in wines and spirits worldwide, and this aim remains today, encouraging recognition for quality products.

On hearing the news, Managing Director Ross Gledhill said:

"Achieving Silver in this international competition after only six months of production is a great achievement and is a credit to the good work of the team.

"Unit Six gin is more than a product for the team, it’s a passion borne out of years of study and attention to fine detail. Our highly unusual vacuum distillation and fractionation process allows us to extract the more pronounced yet delicate flavours from each of our six botanicals; Bergamot, Kaffir, Coriander, Pink Pepper, Juniper and Freesia."

Unit Six gin also received “Special Mentions” at the ‘Gin Guide’ Gin Awards for 2018 and will be one of 50 gins showcasing at the Telegraph Gin Experience event to be held in London from Tuesday 31 July to Wednesday 1 August.
