Rupert Pleasant, Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance, has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London, a prestigious honour recognising significant contributions to the City and public life.

The award ceremony held at the Mansion House celebrated individuals from a wide range of sectors, who have made notable achievements.

Mr Pleasant was nominated by Lord Mayor Professor Michael Mainelli, for his role in fostering stronger financial ties between Guernsey and London.

On receiving the award, Mr Pleasant said “It has been a great
honour to be made a Freeman of the City of London, which was very humbling especially being in such esteemed company for the ceremony.

"It is a great endorsement of the huge efforts made by my colleagues at Guernsey Finance, both on and off island, to promote Guernsey as a leading international finance centre into the City of London and throughout the UK as a whole.”
