Guernsey Director named 'Insurance Woman of the Year'

Monday 13 December 2021

A Guernsey director has been named 'Insurance Woman of the Year' in the small to medium firms category at the Women in Insurance Awards.

Channel Islands Adusters' Julie-Anne Headington, who is in her third year as the Examinations Committee Chair of the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, was also a finalist for 'Role Model of the Year' and nominated for 'Mentor of the Year'.

Mrs Headington founded Channel Islands Adjusters with her husband in 2004.

In 2017, she attained Chartered Loss Adjuster status; and in 2019, Chartered Insurance Practitioner status. She is now a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and a Fellow of the International Federation of Adjusting Associations.

She said she was "honoured" to have received the recognition.

"My passion for learning has enabled me to progress in the insurance industry, particularly as a loss adjuster where only 8% of Chartered Adjusters are women," she said.

"To be able to have the courage to achieve a goal, no matter how long it takes or the journey you travel to get there, is so important. Everyone should progress on merit alone regardless of age, gender or background.

"The biggest challenge I have faced is having the self-belief to succeed. You can do it and, if you fail, you would have learnt things along the way.”
