The Skipton Swimarathon has named its 2024 Ambassador as Steve Byrne, the Manager of the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Skipton said he was an obvious choice as Mr Byrne is well-known for his passion for animal welfare, and enthusiasm for raising funds for the charity.
“I am thrilled to be the Ambassador for the 2024 Skipton Swimarathon," he said.
"The family-friendly swimming event is such a tradition on the island and being the ‘face’ of it is something I take great pride in.”
The Skipton Swimarathon is organised jointly by the Guernsey Round Table and Lions Club of Guernsey, and supported by long-term sponsor, Skipton.
The reservation system for this year's event is now open, with it taking place at Beau Sejour between Wednesday 2 and Sunday 6 October. Participants can check lane availability, book their lane, and download sponsorship forms HERE.
“The GSPCA can only exist with the support of the public so I would urge as many people as possible to form a team, take the plunge and raise as much as you can," said Mr Byrne.
"I promise you it will be money well spent.”
