EY has announced seven promotions within their assurance team across the Channel Islands.
The promotions follow the implementation of EY’s policy to promote employees “when they are ready”, instead of at set times throughout the year.
Nick Masterton has been promoted to Assurance Senior Manager, with Christian Galecio and Maelle Smith both promoted to the position of Assurance Managers.
Shardale Alberca, Jake Magell, Clyde Torres and Devin Werner have all been promoted to Assistant Managers within the assurance team.
The promotions are in addition to the 30 management promotions already announced in the last year and reflect the firm’s continued investment in their peoples’ development and career progression.

EY Managing Partner for the Channel Islands, Andrew Dann, congratulated the employees who had received promotions.
“All of these individuals have shown dedication and commitment to providing exceptional client service; and taken full advantage of the opportunities EY has to offer to further their experiences and personal development,” he said.
Mr Masterton joined EY in 2013 as a trainee from the Grammar Sixth Form Centre and has progressed through to Senior Manger during his time with the firm. He has a wealth of experience working within the financial services sectors, predominantly in wealth & asset management, specifically private equity and real estate, as well as captive insurance.
Mr Masterton will continue to drive and deliver high quality audits and support clients through emerging challenges in his new senior management role.

Ms Smith joined EY in 2016 after completing a First-Class master’s degree in business management at the University of Edinburgh. During this time, she took part in EY’s Summer Internship Programme to get a taste of what a career with EY would involve, before joining the firm in a trainee position upon completing her degree.
Ms Smith is experienced in providing assurance services within the wealth & asset management, real estate and commercial transport industries. Aside from her technical abilities, she actively contributes to EY’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, both internally through her involvement with office committees, as well as within the local community by volunteering with Every Child Our Future. This was recognised with her receiving the Jersey Finance Rising Star award for CSR in 2020.
In her new role, Ms Smith will play an important role in coaching and mentoring through EY’s counsellor programme to support more junior members of the team in developing skills to progress in their careers. She will also help grow EY's business locally through various business development initiatives.

Mr Galecio is a Certified Public Accountant and has a degree in Accountancy from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He began his career at EY Philippines, during which time he also undertook a three-month secondment to the EY Singapore office, before joining the Guernsey office.
Mr Galecio works predominately with clients in the wealth & asset management industry, including London Stock Exchange listed investment companies, and has vast experience working on International Financial Reporting Standards and US GAAP engagements.
In his new role, Mr Galecio will continue to deliver high quality audits to clients and is looking forward to getting more involved with generating new business opportunities for EY and more broadly for the Channel Islands.
