A number of key topics have been highlighted as “key topics” for people working in Guernsey’s regulatory industry and the wider financial community.

Deloitte has published its report ‘The Financial Markets Regulatory Outlook for 2021’ examining various trends being seen across the financial sector.

High on the list is Digitisation and Innovation: Deloitte recognises the pandemic has altered the way we work and changed our habits, with a bigger focus on cloud-based solutions and artificial intelligence.

“Economic prospects remain highly uncertain and variable between regions,” said Head of Regulatory Strategy, David Strachan.

“We cannot understate the magnitude of the risks facing firms in 2021, but therein lies an opportunity for firms to lay the foundations of their future success.”

The audit and advisory firm said the local financial services industry has an opportunity to make “significant in-roads over the coming months” before the full impact of new regulatory of legislative requirements are imposed.
