Isabelle Vets is celebrating the dedication of seven team members who have clocked up 173 years of service between them.

Support team member Nicky Le Galloudec is celebrating 31 years after joining the practice in 1993, and receptionist Cheryl Gillingham is marking 30 years.

Colleague Sarah Baird has been a member of the team for 29 years, joining at the beginning of 1995.

Also celebrating long-service milestones are head veterinary nurse Laura Van Zyl, who has been caring for pets at the practice for 23 years, and senior veterinary nurse Demelza Le Ber, vet Corinne Smith and pharmaceutical and product manager Tessa Lesley have all clocked up 20 years.

In her front-of-house role, senior receptionist Cheryl is one of the first people clients and pets see when they visit Isabelle Vets, which has surgeries in Route Isabelle and L’Islet.

Cheryl said: “I have loved every minute of the past 30 years at Isabelle Vets, and the best part of my job is being here to help our lovely clients and their pets. Because I’ve been part of the team for so long, I’ve built up great relationships with our clients and they appreciate seeing a familiar face when they bring their precious pets in to see us.

“The biggest changes I’ve seen since I started working here is how the practice has grown from one to two surgeries and all the amazing facilities and equipment we now have available to give the very best care to pets, including our CT scanner, hydrotherapy treadmill and in-house laboratory.

“Technology has helped us continue to improve the veterinary care we offer, and it’s also made life much easier for the team. When I started in 1994, we completed a lot of paperwork by hand and had an appointment book to log patient visits. Everything is much quicker and more efficient with the computer systems we use today.”

Nicky and Sarah have both enjoyed career changes during their three decades at Isabelle Vets and praised the practice for supporting their decisions to move from treating patients to behind-the-scenes roles in the office.

After starting her career at Isabelle Vets in reception, Nicky qualified as a veterinary nurse and spent 20 years caring for sick pets at the practice before moving to an admin role, and Sarah was a small animal vet before joining the admin team.

Sarah said: “As well as being extremely caring to pets, the practice really looks after its team members and when I decided I wanted to retire from clinical work and do more on the admin side, the management team supported my decision. I now support the smooth running of the practice, process insurance claims and help maintain our Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards scheme accreditation and I really enjoy it.

“Isabelle Vets is a happy place to work and it’s lovely that so many of us have been here for so long because it means we know each other well and we all work well together.”
