Corporate teams encouraged to make a splash!

The Skipton Swimarathon is encouraging more corporate teams to make a splash for charity this year, as part of its Corporate Sponsor Awards Scheme.

For the second year, the spirited community event will be handing out awards to those organisations who manage to raise the most funds. The Awards will recognize three levels of fundraising, with Accreditation Rosettes being given to companies to acknowledge their support.

Last year the Skipton Swimarathon honored local charity GROW Limited and sponsors Skipton International with Gold Awards, who each managed to raise in excess of £1,500. Silver Awards will be given to those firms that raise more than £1,000 and Bronze Awards for those who contribute £500 or more.

Aaron Walden, Skipton’s Commercial Manager, said: “We realise that there’s a lot of friendly competition between local companies and we would love to see this harnessed in the pool towards a good cause. As well as being part of an incredibly fun event, those firms who dig deep into their pockets will also benefit from the use of the Sponsor Awards Rosette, social media recognition and publicity surrounding their efforts.”

Swimmers will this year be raising money towards the Le Murier School’s Village Project, as the main beneficiary of the event. The Project will look to complete the building of four log cabins, to allow students of the school and youth groups to learn independent living skills. The event has experienced the biggest pick up to date, with only 38 lane slots still available for swimmers to register.

Nick Guillemette, Chairman of the Skipton Swimarathon, said: “We have been amazed at the response to the event so far and it would be fantastic if we could make this the first year where we fill all available lanes.  To date, we have had a good response from local corporations, but we would welcome as many as possible to become involved to support this very worthy beneficiary.”
