Collaboration is key for Guernsey's Future

Wednesday 09 October 2024

A host of the islands' business organisations have met to discuss how "to ensure Guernsey remains a great place to live and work."

The Guernsey International Business Association, the Hospitality Association, Construction Forum, Institute of Directors, Guernsey Retail Group, Chamber of Commerce, CGI and the Association of Guernsey Charities were all in attendance.

The groups met to discuss Guernsey's Future and to explore areas of collaboration, that last one being something we've seen increasingly common amongst the islands third sector organizations recently.

All in attendance agreed that the current problems with the Housing Market are creating causes for concern in other areas including "skill shortages" and "overall workforce development". In a joint statement released following the meeting, the group admitted that "addressing this challenge is paramount for sustaining Guernsey's economic health and growth".

They also issued this joint message - “As leading organisations in Guernsey, we have committed to work collaboratively to drive positive change for our community. We believe that leadership by example is essential, and through strong partnerships and collective action, we can achieve our shared goals.

Collaboration is key and by pooling our expertise and resources, we aim to create a thriving future for Guernsey.

The groups are meeting again today (9 October) at the Chamber Lunch, and say they will now survey their respective members, to find out what the key and pressing issues for Guernsey are, ahead of the 2025 Election.
