Close Finance CI’s coastal rowing team is aiming for oarsome results this season after the personal loan specialists renewed sponsorship of the squad.
The Close Finance rowers will compete in more than 20 races around the islands this year, beginning with a competition from Jersey Rowing Club on Saturday. They will also make a date in their diary for the Coastal World Championships in Hong Kong in November.
It’s the second year Close Finance has sponsored the squad. Led by Michael Rive, the team has been training eight times a week on and out of the water since February with the firm's support.
Mr Rive and fellow team members, William Le Quenlenec, Andy Bowman, Stephen Reed and Megan Barette, have already made waves in Channel Islands coastal rowing and have previously lifted the trophy for the Sark to Jersey race.
Close Finance CI Managing Director Richard Briscoe is passionate about rowing and said they were pleased to renew their sponsorship of the team. “Having been involved myself in rowing at high level, I understand the dedication and time needed to do well in this sport,” he said. “Close Finance CI is delighted to be able to support the team in a sport with such a long tradition in Jersey.”
