Clock ticking for firms to file economic data

Friday 28 July 2023

Around 100 selected smaller firms have just days left to file an economic activity return to the States.

The deadline for the returns is 31 July.

Data collected is used to help the States accurately calculate Gross Value Added and Gross Domestic Product figures.

Sometimes expenditure and income for the previous two years, and budget forecasts for the coming two years needs to be declared.

The States say that over 400 returns have been filed so far, with around 500 sent out earlier this year. Reminders were sent to the firms with outstanding returns at the beginning of July.

Larger firms submit these returns every year, but a small sample of different smaller employers are also selected.

All Alderney employers are required to submit the returns each year.

Helen Walton, the States’ head of the Data & Analysis Service thanked those who have already provided statistics and urged those remaining to follow suit.

If you think you might miss the deadline or if you need help with your return, please make contact via dataandanalysis@gov.gg. Once the deadline has passed, the Data and Analysis team will reach out to those whose Returns remain outstanding,” she said.

Further information on the returns is available HERE.
