Carey Olsen brave chill for charity

Wednesday 01 May 2019

Carey Olsen staff have once again raised money for local charities through their annual Chill Challenge.

More than 20 partners and staff take part in a lunchtime swim at Belle Greve Bay on Thursday.

Those nominated to take part by colleagues became confirmed participants once their fundraising target was reached - alternatively, they could pay a forfeit to remain warm and dry.

Either way, the money raised was donated to the law firm's two nominated Guernsey charities – the Guernsey Cardiac Action Group and the Guernsey Child Contact Centre LBG, with £1,100 raised in total.

In addition to the Chill Challenge, 2019 MasterChef quarter finalist Lisa Bailey, an Associate in Carey Olsen's Guernsey corporate team, also served up her own chilli con carne for swimmers and spectators in exchange for a charitable donation.

Carey Olsen Senior Associate and long-distance swimmer Adrian Sarchet participated in the fundraiser.

"I'm pleased to see that the swim has become something of a tradition in just its third year. It is an event that people in the office look forward to, which is hopefully borne out by the fact that we had more swimmers this year than ever before," he said. "To have Lisa cooking up her fabulous food also added to the occasion and helped to raise even more money for our two fantastic charities."

The Guernsey Cardiac Action Group aims to raise awareness of heart health and well-being through a variety of initiatives such as on-site or in-school training. The Guernsey Child Contact Centre provides a safe environment for children to maintain and re-establish contact with a parent, grandparent, sibling, other relative or another person important in their life.
