Technology solutions provider C5 Alliance has launched its sixth undergraduate bursary which is focused on equipping local students for the technological revolution.
In 2017 the firm awarded a bursary to Ladies’ College student Jessica Salisbury who is currently studying towards a BSC in Natural Sciences at Durham University and hoping to go on to study towards an MSci in Maths and Chemistry.
The firm says it recognises that investment in education and skills development is vital for the industry to continue to grow and profit and, as the largest technology solutions provider in the Channel Islands, it wants to empower the next generation of IT talent.
C5’s bursary provides funding for students applying to undertake an undergraduate degree in a STEM (Science-based, Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics) subject.
Head of Professional Services at C5 Alliance Simon Tidd said: “We’re looking for students with a passion for technology to be a part of the upcoming revolution. Our young people are vital for Guernsey’s industry and we recognise the need to enable them to develop and strengthen their skills.
“As a firm we are committed to investing in the islands’ young talent and actively encourage them to bring their expertise and creativity back to the island which is why we offer a graduate bursary scheme and an entry-level academy.”
C5 understands that financial funding alone isn’t enough to inspire the Artificial Intelligence (AI) creators of the future. Therefore, C5 will also provide the successful candidate with a dedicated mentor to assist and advise on their current programme of study as well as the opportunity to undertake summer work with the company.
Miss Salisbury who had the bursary last year said: “The C5 Alliance bursary is one of the only Guernsey bursaries available to support students wishing to study a science degree. The bursary has helped me to start my career in the technology sector and I am very much looking forward to working at C5 this summer."
