C5 Alliance consultant gains premier cloud security qualification

Thursday 30 August 2018

Head of Technical Solutions at C5 Alliance, Matthew Ferbrache has gained the premier cloud security certification, Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).

He is the only security professional registered in the Channel Islands to have this qualification, which represents the highest standard for cloud security expertise.

The CCSP is a globally recognised credential, co-created by (ISC)² and Cloud Security Alliance — leaders for information security and cloud computing security. Earning this certification demonstrates a "wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud security principles, architecture and ongoing operations".

As the lead networking and security consultant at C5 Alliance, Mr Ferbrache will be using his knowledge to assist customers in developing their cloud security strategies.

“Getting the right advice before an organisation embarks on their cloud journey is an absolute necessity. Many businesses are considering a cloud-first philosophy and there are competitive advantages to be gained by doing this," he said.

"Security improvements are an advantage for smaller businesses, providing access to solutions that may have ordinarily been out of reach due to the scale of their organisation.

“The fundamentals of cloud security are no different to the traditional on premises model. A strong Information Security Management System is still fundamental, risk assessments need to be performed and suitable controls put in place to reduce risk. Global cloud providers are proud of their investment in security and will make this information available to potential customers, however small-scale cloud providers will inevitably invest less in security and are generally not as willing to share information on their platform architecture. I would urge businesses considering a cloud solution to ensure that adequate security controls are implemented to protect their organisation and if they are in doubt to seek technical advice before investing.”

C5 Alliance Guernsey Managing Director, Marc Laine, said: “This is a fantastic achievement, Matt’s knowledge in this area is a very significant part of our skill base. It is imperative that we are at the forefront of rapidly evolving technologies, threats and mitigation strategies as security breaches continue to be a prominent threat to business security. I am confident C5’s clients will see the benefit of Matt’s experience."
