Business breakfast launches CI Pride events

Friday 07 September 2018

Ahead of this weekend's Pride events in Guernsey, a business breakfast is being held at Urban Kitchen this morning, hosted by GIBA.

The event, sponsored by Rothschild, was planned to fit around the 'Stronger Together' theme of this year's CI Pride.

Those working in the finance sector and the associated legal and accounting professions were invited to attend the Breakfast, which aims to honour the diversity of the sector and learn more about both GIBA and the events planned for the weekend.

David Oxburgh, GIBA Chairman, said, "Guernsey is well recognised for having a diverse finance sector. Perhaps less well recognised though are the efforts being made by financial services firms here to ensure that as employers they are equally diverse and inclusive. There has been huge progress in this area in recent years, so as well as supporting CI Pride, Friday’s breakfast event is an opportunity to celebrate this and boost awareness and engagement on these important issues.

"More generally, as the representative body covering the whole of Guernsey’s finance sector and associated professions, GIBA is pleased to support and encourage Guernsey’s financial services community to continue its journey to create happy, inclusive workplaces where employees can bring their ‘whole selves’ to their office."

Channel Islands Pride is an all-inclusive event, being hosted this year in Guernsey. It is open to anyone who wants to support the LGBTQ+ community and to celebrate and promote equality for all in the Channel Islands and around the world.
