TISE has wished its sponsored sailor Andrew Bridgman well as he gears up to kick off another world championship this week.
TISE Private Markets has backed Bridgman for two years as he competes for sailing golds, and he’s set to compete in the Foiling Waszp World Championships from tomorrow in Norway.
Bridgman is among 180 competitors in the field, looking to improve on his 12th place finish in Melbourne last year and a 36th place finish at world championships the year before that.
As part of the Great Britain contingent and under the banner of the Guernsey Yacht Club, Bridgman will be sailing Barbarosa II in the Apprentice (21-39 year old) category.
The Foiling Waszp boats sailed by Mr Bridgman are not included within the classes selected for the Olympics, although some of those who he competed against in Melbourne last year are sailing in other classes in Paris this summer while others are now part of teams competing in the Americas Cup.
Bridgman said: “There is a very subtle technique to get and stay foiling in light airs and if you aren’t one of the first to foil in light airs, it’s easy to get stuck only moving three times slower than most others. It looks like there will be challenging conditions for the world championships, but I’ve just been getting stuck into the final block of training and I’m feeling very positive."
Mark Oliphant, Head of Marketing and Communications at TISE, said: “We’re delighted to once again support Andrew in his mission to be number one in the world. It’s great that he’s had a successful summer so far training and racing across Europe and that should serve him well for the world championships. All of us here at TISE wish Andrew the very best for the regatta and we will be following his progress extremely closely."
