Blue Islands fund to help people achieve their potential

Friday 25 January 2019

Blue Islands has announced the launch of the #mybi Flight Fund, which aims to provide opportunities to Channel Island residents, groups and charities who normally wouldn't be able to travel.

The #mybi Flight Fund marks a departure from Blue Islands’ previous approach where in 2018 ad hoc support saw over 100 return flights provided for individuals such as Grace Greenwood and charitable groups including the Youth Commission for Guernsey and Alderney.

Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO said, “As a Channel Islands based airline, Blue Islands is always proud to partner with hard-working individuals, groups and charities which make such a difference to the lives of Islanders and are excited to launch the #mybi Flight fund 2019 applicants.

To qualify for potential support, the #mybi Flight Fund criteria is:

  • You are applying to access an opportunity that would otherwise be impossible or very difficult to achieve without the support of free flights
  • The activity being undertaken must enable something good to happen (an opportunity, experience, development or achievement for example) to the benefit of the recipient(s)and, where possible, the broader community
  • Sponsorship must directly benefit the recipient

Blue Islands anticipate a huge interest in the #mybi Flight Fund and applications will be considered and allocated on the basis of most need and/or opportunity for the applicant, the closing date for applications is Thursday 28 February 2019.

Mr Veron added, “Blue Islands would like to help more Channel Islanders, groups and charities to travel off Island for experiences that will have a positive impact on their lives and invites anyone to apply who meets the #mybi Flight Fund criteria and we look forward to announcing the successful applicants!
