Appleby hopes Tri Golf Festival will inspire more children

Thursday 07 June 2018

Appleby, in conjunction with Guernsey Sports Commission, recently sponsored the Tri Golf Festival at Beau Sejour, as part of the firm's wider community partnership to support golf development in the island.

The Appleby sponsored event encouraged children, who had previously experienced the sport in Schools PE programmes, to attend the festival to give golf another go.

23 children from eight different schools took up the free opportunity, with the young players from school year four across the island.

A number of those children have already taken the next step to playing in the community.

Appleby Group Partner, Alison MacKrill said “We are proud to be involved with the Tri Golf Festival. Appleby have sponsored the L’Ancresse Open and the Ladies Pairs competition at La Grande Mare for a number of years. Having the opportunity to work with the Guernsey Sports Commission to support and encourage school children to try golf, have fun and hopefully take up the game is another key part of Appleby’s involvement with golf development in Guernsey.”
