Road Closure of Longue Hougue Lane off Bulwer Avenue

MEDIA RELEASE: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and not Bailiwick Express, and the text is reproduced exactly as supplied to us

As part of the wider planning around COVID 19, Ferryspeed, working in closely with the States of Guernsey have requested Longue Hougue Lane which runs between Bulwer Avenue and Grandes Maison Road, St Sampson’s be closed to vehicular traffic.

The reasons for this is to ensure secure access for our trucks and trailers day and night, which carry much of our essential goods from the harbour to our warehouses, then out to many of the Islands shops and stores. We want to make sure that our premises are secure and that the people that operate in and around our premises within this lane are controlled, and the only way to do this was to close the road.

We will also be putting into place additional checks for anyone needing to visit the site, and would ask that anyone needing to visit to collect any goods, telephone in advance

We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience that this temporary road closure may cause, although we are sure that you will understand and appreciate our genuine reasons for doing this, as we form an integral part of the Islands supply chain.
