The Pandora Hotel re-opened after months of refurbishment

The 55-bedroom Pandora Hotel in Hauteville, St Peter Port re-opened on 1st April 2023 after several months of refurbishment. Many of our sea-view bedrooms have been completely re-designed and refurbished, as has the bar and the restaurant.

A lot of improvements have also taken place back of house, including the kitchen and laundry, and new technology has been implemented to support the operation.

 General Manager Will Haegeland, who joined the team on 1st December 2022, said “The Pandora has been a good quality hotel for tourists for many years. As guest expectations and visitor trends are changing, it was the right time for us to start re-positioning The Pandora and improve on our offering both in terms of bedrooms and public areas. The re-opening on 1st April is just a starting point on our journey of continued improvement and upgrading of the hotel’s offering”.

Will Haegeland came from Luxury Scotland hotel Cringletie just south of Edinburgh, where he was General Manager for the last 5 years. He has over 20 years’ experience in hospitality and is now General Manager for both The Pandora Hotel and its sister, the 26 bedroom Marton Guest House in Les Vardes.

“As a relatively large operator on the island, representing about 4 % of the island bed stock, my aim is to be very much in the forefront of island hospitality and tourism. I wish to work closely with the island’s tourism organisations and my colleagues across tourism businesses to ensure a sustainable, healthy and growing visitor economy on the island”.

Mr Haegeland has been a prominent figure in tourism in the South of Scotland, leading the region’s largest tourism organisation for 5 years and he was instrumental in the creation of a Destination Management and Marketing Organisation for the South of Scotland – South of Scotland Destination Alliance. Mr Haegeland has also been director and chairman of business improvement district projects, one of which was specifically created for tourism development in the Tweed Valley.
