Proposals for a new cycling facility at Delancey are moving forward after planning permission was given for a pump track.
The Guernsey Velo Club will now embark on a six figure fund raising drive to get the facility developed.
It will transform the dilapidated tennis courts into a continuous circuit of banked turns interspaced by rollers and other features that can be ridden without pedalling.

It will allow the club to coach bike handling skills in a safe environment and also be accessible to the public to use for free.
Planners have put conditions in place, including keeping its use to between 07:00 and 22:00, the need for landscaping and protection of trees to be agreed and signs put in to make people aware it can only be used for cycling.

“It’s great news for the cycling community,” said Cycling Development Officer Paul De Garis.
“Our next stages are fundraising and digesting exactly what the approval means because of the conditions in there. It’s very early stages. We’re looking at six figures in fundraising but the good thing is that we are moving forward.”
