Guernsey's team for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2023 in Trinidad & Tobago has been named with cyclists and swimmers taking part.

Cycling will be represented by Helena Duguid and Chay Kennedy-Cook. They'll both compete in the Time Trial and Road Race events on 5 and 7 August respectively.

Swimming will be represented by Hannah Kennedy, Delphine Riley, Erin Watterson, Luke Le Cras and Joshua Dunning.

Their competition will be staged between 6 and 9 August and will see them compete in a variety of heats as well as with the option of mixed freestyle and medley relays.

Both sports will take place in Couva, Trinidad, with swimming at the Couva Aquatics Centre and cycling on the roads around Couva.

The Guernsey Commonwealth Games Association said it "is pleased to announce the athletes selected to compete at the Commonwealth Youth Games" with all of the athletes to be supported by Peter Jory and Karina Jackson as overall Team Leaders.

Alex Wilson will travel as Guernsey's Cycling Official and Sara Parfit as Swimming Official.

Chairman of the GCGA, David Harry, said he is hopeful for more medals in Trinidad following medal success at previous Commonwealth Youth Games in 2008, 2017 and 2019 - where local athletes won in the Tennis in Pune, India, and in Samoa, and in cycling and athletics in the Bahamas, respectively.

Mr Harry also wanted to thank the current GCGA sponsors, Specsavers and Islands Energy, for their continued support.
