POLL: What shops do you want to see in Guernsey?

Sunday 13 January 2019

With Miss Selfridge in the Arcade now closed, and two new brands soon to be available on the High Street, it looks like there's some changes ahead for the shops in St Peter Port.

But with a number of the units still empty - and nothing yet confirmed to be moving into the former Miss Selfridge unit on the corner in the Commercial Arcade, Express wants to know what shoppers really want.

Creasey's revealed its plans for Hobbs and Whistles to join Wallis and Warehouse on the High Street this week, but the Managing Director of Creasey's Ltd, Peter Creasey, said no decisions had yet been made on what would replace Miss Selfridge, which closed yesterday.

He said the store had been a concession, meaning although Creasey's ran its operations, all staff were employed by the Arcadia Group, and that company made the decision to shut the Guernsey branch when operating costs increased as sales declined.

The staff are all believed to have found other jobs or be attending interviews.

But with a large empty shop now available in the Arcade, along with others in the centre of St Peter Port, what shops or businesses would you like to see there?
