What an Epic achievement!

Naro Zimmerman completed a 24 hour swimming challenge this weekend, raising thousands of pounds in the process to be shared between two locally based charities which help communities overseas.

He was supported in his efforts by representatives of those two charities, This is Epic and The Eleanor Foundation.

This is Epic works to empower others by helping to set up village savings accounts so individual communities can work together to lift themselves out of poverty, while the Eleanor Foundation focuses on improving access to basic needs like freshwater.

Naro's 24-hour challenge started on Saturday lunchtime, at St Sampson's High School, where he was joined by a number of others throughout the weekend, swimming alongside him day and night.

Swimming 61,050 metres in 24 hours didn't come without its challenges though, with Naro having to adjust his nutrition plan as he took on fluids and calories while still in the pool.

His body was feeling the effects within hours, but he kept on swimming to complete his challenge, with funds donated via his JustGiving page already reaching almost £7,500. More donations are expected to have been made than that so his grand total should be higher.
