A pub on the Bridge is under offer and could soon have new owners.

The English and Guernsey Arms, which formerly traded as Blind O'Reilly's, closed earlier this year.

The 0.22 hectare site has been marketed by Cooper Brouard and Watts & Co on behalf of the Liberation Group, which decided to sell the land.

Listed at £800,000, there was a sealed bids tender process and the site is now under offer. 

Pictured: Planning's development framework said there was plenty of parking along the South Quay to support residential or commercial use of the site. 

Planning drew up a Development Framework for the site in March, saying there were a number of options for both commercial and residential use. 

"The site is situated outside of the Core Retail Area and should a new use be proposed, change of use away from retail will be permitted where it supports the objective of ensuring the Main Centres remain attractive focal points for economic and social activity," said the Planning Service. 

"While residential development can help to contribute to economic and social activity, more active commercial or community uses would provide greater benefit through employment, greater footfall and potential for linked trips. There is therefore potential for a mixed use and this is considered the most appropriate option for the site, including an active frontage to South Quay. Most buildings on South Quay are in mixed use, often with commercial use on the ground floor with residential above."
