WANTED: "6ft tall lone individual"

Monday 27 January 2020

Cigarettes and more than £1,500 has been reported missing after an alleged break-in at a garage near the Bridge.

Guernsey Police have reported that someone "forced their way" in to Northern Motor Works, on Grandes Maison Road some time between 02:30 and 04:00 this morning.

Investigating officers want to hear from any witnesses or anyone else with any information.

"The garage is located on Grandes Maison Road, so anyone with private CCTV along or near that road is asked to check their footage. We are looking for a lone individual, about six foot tall. Anyone with a dashcam who was driving in the area around those times is also asked to have a look at their recordings," a police spokesperson said.

"Over the coming days and weeks, if you’re offered cigarettes to buy we ask that you call us, as they could well be stolen."

Temporary Detective Constable Francesca Babbe added that so far, evidence suggested this was an isolated incident, and so there was no need for wider concern from other businesses nearby. But she added: "However, we urge anyone with information about this crime to get in touch. The more information we have, the higher the likelihood of an arrest and conviction.

"If you have information, please call 725111 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
