Volunteers dig in at La Vallette

Saturday 25 May 2019

The work to ensure La Vallette is kept in tip top condition is continuing today, with another effort by volunteers.

Community group The Art of Living has organised for a group of workers to weed the hydrangea bed near the underground hospital museum.

Andrew Pouteaux who coordinates the volunteers said they will be "intensively weeding" the beds to get them ready for the busier summer months.

The volunteers work will be bolstered by a delivery of wood chips being donated and delivered for free by tree surgeon Charlie Vaudin. They will be spread over the bare soil to inhibit weed growth and hold moisture during the warmer weeks.

Some of the nearby parking spaces will be closed to allow the volunteers to safely work in the area.
