Vauvert Primary School’s annual ‘Uniform Jump’ was carried out this year in support of the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation.
The funds will go towards one of two flats run by the charity near Southampton Hospital for use by Guernsey families. The flat is named ‘Aggie’s Burrow’ in memory of Aggie Nicolle, a former classmate of the current leavers who tragically passed away from neuroblastoma in 2016.
The ‘Uniform Jump’ is an annual tradition that takes place at the bathing pools. Year 6 leavers celebrate the end of their time at Vauvert by taking a jump into the bathing pools, seeking donations for a charity of their choice. The PPBF was chosen to honour their friend.
“It was nice to involve Aggie in their end of Vauvert tradition,” said Ashley Miles, whose stepdaughter is a year-6 leaver of Vauvert.
“These kids are incredible,” said Sammy Meerveld from the PPBF. “Every year they’ve done something lovely to remember their friend Aggie and support Aggie’s Burrow.”
“A big thank you to them all, their parents and their teachers.”

Collas Crill Guernsey gifted 100 gift vouchers for Pirate Bay Adventure Gold to the PPBF, who have chosen to pass the vouchers on to the Year 6 students as a thank you for their fundraising efforts.
So far over £1,200 has been raised for Aggie’s Burrow. The PPBF will continue to raise funds for Aggie’s Burrow through a dedicated page on their website: donorbox.org/aggies-uniform-jump.
The PPBF maintains the flats for use free-of-charge by families with premature babies, or children facing life-threatening conditions, who require special care at Southampton Hospital. It is hoped that the flats provide a degree of privacy and comfort for families during difficult times.
Operating costs for the two flats are an estimated £30,000 per year.
