Vale Road closed again...this time for resurfacing

Sunday 24 June 2018

Vale Road will be closed from Monday 25 June so it can be resurfaced in sections, following the sewer replacement works earlier this year.

Then, the busy road was closed for five months as Guernsey Water worked in stages to upgrade services.

Now, contractors will be working on sections of the tarmac which are in need of repair following the completion of that sewer replacement project.

The contractors, Geomarine, will start work at the Vale Road/Delancey Lane junction on Monday, before continuing down towards Le Tonnelle Clos.

Working hours will be between 08:00 and 17:00 between Monday and Friday with vehicle access to properties made available whenever possible.

Guernsey Water have said it will make "every effort to keep disruption to an absolute minimum."

The utility's Income and Liaison Manager, Phil Marquis, said: “during the week Geomarine will be addressing the most problematic areas.  The road will finally be reinstated in about 12 to 18 months, by which time the trench should have finally settled and the full road width can be resurfaced.

“During this short five day closure we will ensure residents are kept up-to-date and have pedestrian access to their property at all times.  We apologise for any inconvenience this is likely to cause.”
