UPDATE: Sure outage "fully resolved"

Thursday 02 February 2023

Sure has confirmed today's outage was a "network configuration error" which has now been fully resolved.

Sure’s Group CEO Alistair Beak said: “We experienced a network outage at 15:55 on Thursday 2 February which affected all Sure Guernsey broadband and mobile services. Landline and 999 services were not affected and were working normally. The outage was the result of a network configuration error and was fully resolved by our engineers at 16:41.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the outage. We’re proud of our network resilience and thankfully this a rare occurrence. We will conduct a full review of this incident and if any customer is still experiencing issues please call us on 700700.”

Sure had confirmed an issue affecting mobile services across the Channel Islands just before 16:00 with  Guernsey’s biggest telco saying that engineers were investigating the issue “urgently”.

The company apologised for the “inconvenience caused” and said services would be restored “as quickly as possible”. That happened by 16:41.

People commenting on Sure’s social media posts reported having issues with home broadband, and 4G services. Retailers, including the Co-op supermarket, have been affected and asked customers to pay in cash.  Airtel customers also reported connection problems to Express.
