Unemployment in Guernsey has fallen for the sixth month in a row, while job vacancies remain high.
The States of Guernsey has published its unemployment report for August and it highlights a drop in unemployment by 20 people. This brings the total number of unemployed in the island to 397.
The news has been welcomed by the President of the Committee for Employment and Social Security, Deputy Peter Roffey.
“The number of people unemployed has now fallen for six consecutive months, which is a great achievement, especially when we consider the situation as it was at the start of this year following the second lockdown,” he said.
Pictured: “Unemployment is now only 87 above the August 2019 levels which shows that we are edging ever closer to pre-Covid levels,” said Deputy Roffey.
ESS also recorded a drop in the number of people claiming financial support, by 32 down to 343.
