Two days to talk the future

The itinerary for the Prince’s Foundation’s visit to the island of Sark has been released.

The charity, which focuses on the built and natural environment, was invited to the island by Christopher Beaumont, Seigneur of Sark, and Swen Lorenz – both directors of the Sark Property Company.

The aim is to, through collating the perspectives of the island’s community, devise “a long-term stewardship plan that will encourage investment in the island but ensure that its special character is protected.

But only one event will be open to the public at large.

Monday 24

The public are invited to attend a two-hour discussion at the Island Hall, where thoughts about Sark can be shared and recorded by the Foundation team.

Information from the conversations will be displayed on maps and charts relating to the natural, social, financial, and built elements of the island.

Doors open at 18:00, with an open address at 18:10 before the forum closes at 20:00.

Tuesday 25

A day-long scoping workshop will be held the following day in the Heritage Room, but attendance will be by invitation only for “some key stakeholders”.

The morning will see a series of statements and briefings, before a tour of key sites. In the afternoon table discussions will play out before a review of the public's views and the trip’s events.

Express will be heading to Sark to report on the visit. More to come...
