A new Consultant Oncologist is joining the team at the Guernsey Medical Specialist Group this month.
Dr Mohammad Butt qualified from Rawalpindi, Pakistan in 1988 before completing his training in the Republic of Ireland and Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.
He has been working as a Consultant Medical Oncologist in Hull University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust since 2006, and has been the Regional Lead Oncologist for the management of germ cell tumours. He also specialises in the management of other urological malignancies such as bladder and prostate with systemic anti cancer treatment options.
To add to his experience, Dr Butt has been the Principal Oncologist for the management of breast cancer for North Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust. He has held a private practice in Spire Hull and East Riding hospital where he provided services for breast, urology and gynaecology portfolios.

Dr Butt was the Chief Investigator of the clinical trial 'BATMAN', recruiting patients into national trials.
He established an annual Oncology Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Symposium in Hull and has been an educational supervisor of trainees.

As you can see from his excellent CV, we believe we've secured a high calibre oncologist. One whose sub specialist interests will dovetail nicely with those of Drs Gomes and Manikyam, to the benefit of Guernsey patients."
Dr Butt will lead the Genitourinary and Gynaecological service in the island as well as looking after breast cancer patients.
