Theatre team pull an 'All-Nighter' to get show on stage

Friday 21 August 2020

Two local talents have given themselves just 10 days to write, rehearse and perform a brand new musical, which will take to the stage this weekend in aid of two charities that are helping struggling performers through the covid-19 pandemic.

Laura Simpson and Rickey Long started writing on 12 August, with a performance date booked in for Saturday 22 August.

Rehearsals for 'All-Nighter' began on Wednesday, when the full cast got together for the first time.

"All-Nighter explores various life experiences of people who may be awake, for various reasons, when others are asleep."

"The cast includes many well-known local names and multi-disciplinary performers who are seeing out the lockdown back home."

The performance - which is likely to be the first new musical production to be shown in the British Isles for more than five months - will raise money for ORCA and the Theatre Artist's Fund, both of which are supporting local and international performing artists whose careers are suffering from the worldwide restrictions on live theatre.

Thanks to support from the Avril Earl Dance & Theatre team, 'All-Nighter' will be staged at the group's centre along Rue De Lane Boullerie in St Andrews.

Anyone looking to book tickets can do so by emailing the production team on allnighterthemusical@gmail.com.
