Tennerfest to help hospitality Revive and Thrive

Tennerfest will be returning this October - with Chief Minister Gavin St Pier promoting it as an opportunity for islanders to help out the hospitality industry.

The annual event returns at a time when local restaurants and bars are still struggling to bounce back from the negative impact of the lockdown.

“It’s a fantastic promotion and this year it’s more important than ever,” said Steve Hopkins, Owner of Fat Rascal, which has taken part in Tennerfest since opening in 2017. 

“It’s obviously been a difficult time for the hospitality sector as a result of Covid-19 but it’s also been hard for our customers too, many of whom haven’t had as much disposable income to spend eating out.”

“This year’s Tennerfest, in particular, will give restaurants and hotels a much-needed boost but it will also give islanders the opportunity to take advantage of all the amazing deals on offer.”

All Liberation Group restaurants across Guernsey and Jersey have signed up, said Executive Chef Alice Bowyer. 

“We always try to champion and support our local suppliers and Tennerfest is a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic vibrant food and drink scene the Channel Islands has to offer,” said Ms Bowyer.

Policy & Resources President Gavin St Pier said the event fits into the 'Revive and Thrive' bracket.

"The Tennerfest has been a regular in the calendar for more than 20 years and I know it’s something Bailiwick residents look forward to each year," he said. "It’s cheaper to eat out during October and November, which is great for us, and even better for the hotels and restaurants across the islands that need our support.

"We know our hospitality sector has been among those most affected by lockdown during this Covid-19 pandemic. Our continued support and #GuernseyTogether approach has never been more important."
