Teenager pleads guilty to weapons charges

An 18-year-old will be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to possession of a rifle and homemade taser.

Max James' parents contacted Guernsey Police with concerns over the taser last month and he was subsequently arrested on 26 June this year.

On searching a shed used by the defendant, officers found a number of items including a .22 calibre rifle, knives and a homemade bullet-proof vest, filled with sand.

James appeared before Guernsey's Magistrate's Court on Friday, when he was released on bail until his next court hearing, with the condition that he does not go within 100 yards of the shed, which is not at his home property.

He has no previous convictions.
