The Guernsey Institute which will provide an alternative post-16 offering for students in the island's new system of education has yet to appoint a principal, despite April being previously given as the deadline.
It was announced in February that the board would be looking for an executive interim principal to take forward plans for an amalgamated post-16 college.
The new shadow board of Governors for the Guernsey Institute which will comprise the three post-16 colleges College of Further Education, Guernsey Institute (for health and social care) and The Guernsey Training Association (for university courses) was announced yesterday.
Despite the appointments to the board which are set to grow, out of 27 expressions of interest, there is yet to be an interim Executive Principal for the institute due to open fully within 18 months.
Chair of the Board Julian Winser said that despite interviews ongoing they have yet to find a candidate to fill the position of Executive Principal.
"We have not appointed anyone to date. No suitable candidate for the interim Principal have come forward, we know what we're looking for," he said.
The Executive Principal post carries a salary of between £95,633 and £107,832 per annum and a job description online states:
"As a senior academic with proven business acumen, the executive principal will be expected to lead on the establishment of the new institution and new governance structure, ultimately moving the institution to independent university college status. At this juncture, the executive principal role will change to become a chief executive role."
